Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie addressed the media on Wednesday December 30, 2015 to discuss his reasons for firing head coach Chip Kelly.
When Lurie was asked what he would be looking for in a head coach going forward, he responded…
“I think in terms of what we’re looking for in a coach, it’s several things, and it’s No. 1, a smart strategic thinker. That’s a given. You’ve got to be looking out for the short-term, mid-term and long-term interests of the franchise.
Looking for somebody who interacts very well and communicates clearly with everybody he works with and comes in touch with. Understands the passion of our fans and what it’s like to coach the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s a unique and incredibly passionate fan base that just wants to win, and you’ve got to incorporate that in your life and in your heart and you’ve got to be willing to do that….”

The Philadelphia Eagles shocked the NFL world tonight with the announcement that owner Jeffrey Lurie fired Head Coach/Player Personnel Director Chip Kelly with one game left in a highly disappointing season that ends Sunday at the Meadowlands against the Giants.
Questionable personnel moves, multiple complaints about Kelly’s disconnection with players and a series of humiliating losses this season have all led to the Eagles 6-9 record.
Losing to the Washington Redskins at home last week…a loss that eliminated the Eagles from the playoffs…and watching the Redskins celebrate their NFC East title in his stadium may have been the last straw.
National Media has already tabbed former Eagles Defensive Coordinator and current Carolina Panthers Defensive Coordinator Sean McDermott is the early front runner for the job.

The Eagles season has mercifully come to a close. The Eagles didn’t really lose to the Washington Redskins Saturday night; they screwed the game up a bit more than their opponent.
Washington (8-7) clinched the NFC East and thus advanced to the Super Bowl tournament as the No. 4 seed in the NFC where anything can and has happened.

The win in New England was a great day for Eagles fans. And you can’t take that away from the players.
It was a great effort. But after that game, the Eagles were still an atrocious 6-8 for the season, a season so many of us thought the Eagles would dominate.
What went wrong? All Eagle fans have to ask that question. Since whipping the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving in Dallas the Birds have gone 7-11, as of this writing which is on the eve of their game against DeSean Jackson and the Washington Redskins.

As the Eagles prepared for their game against the Washington Redskins and kept an eye on the torrid (OK, tepid) playoff race in the NFC East, a larger question loomed that impacts not only the remainder of this season but many years to come.
Who is the quarterback here?

Saying the NFL is a tough league and a brutal place to make a living is putting it lightly. Winning is all that matters at this level. Most coaches will play anyone from almost any background if it helps the team win. A player’s resume may get him in the door, but to land a […]

Despite lopsided loss the Eagles battled through most of three quarters before the flood gates opened. Here are some positives from the loss.
Remember, if the Eagles beat the Redskins Saturday night then Big Blue in the season finale, they are NFC East Champions – and host a playoff game.
