Facing escalating public relations issues after it was announced two days ago that the Eagles had parted ways with Vice President of player personnel Tom Gamble, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie announced this afternoon that Howie Roseman will be elevated to the role of Executive Vice President of Football Operations and will continue directing contract negotiations, salary cap management, and NFL strategic matters, while overseeing the team’s medical staff, equipment staff and more.
In addition, Head coach Chip Kelly will now oversee the player personnel department. He will also lead efforts to hire a new personnel executive – a process that will begin immediately.

POWER STRUGGLE IN EAGLES FRONT OFFICE RESULTS IN EXIT BY VP TOM GAMBLE

Al Thompson

Various reports claim this move could affect the status and future of head coach Chip Kelly, not because of his performance but because Kelly wanted to work with Gamble. The 2014 draft has been a failure to date with only WR Jordan Matthews (second round) and DT Beau Allen (seventh round) making any kind of impact.

GIANTS- EAGLES NOTES: BOTH TEAMS END DISAPPOINTING SEASONS, EAGLES WIN 34-26

Michael Eisen

The Giants three-game winning streak ended and they finished the year 6-10, their first double-digit loss season since they had the same record in Tom Coughlin’s debut season in 2004.
The Eagles three-game losing streak came to an end.
The Giants finished 3-5 both at home and on the road. EAGLES ON THE BRINK AFTER LOSING TO REDSKINS

Al Thompson

For the Eagles, it was all hands on deck for the game against Washington at FedEx Field. Win and there was a realistic chance to grab the NFC East title and get a home game in the playoffs.
All those hands showed up, but unfortunately for Eagles fans, those palms all had a hand in the Birds stunning 27-24 loss to the Redskins.

GIANTS ‘OTHER’ ROOKIE ANDRE WILLIAMS QUIETLY MAKING PROGESS

Michael Eisen

The last Giants rookie to lead the team in rushing over a full season was Joe Montgomery in 1999 (with all of 348 yards). Andre Williams has an excellent opportunity to be the next.
Williams will again start and be the Giants’ primary back when the team takes on the St. Louis Rams Sunday in the Edward Jones Dome. Rashad Jennings, who is listed as the No. 1 running back on the depth chart, will not play because of the sprained ankle he suffered at Jacksonville three weeks ago. It will be the fifth game Jennings will miss this season. The last two weeks, he was limited to a total of three carries.
