The Philadelphia 76ers today that Michael Carter-Williams has been named Kia NBA Rookie of the Year. He joins Allen Iverson (1996-97) as the only players to win the award in franchise history. Carter-Williams earned 104 of a possible 124 first-place votes from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters selected by the NBA.

SIXERS SELECT MICHAEL CARTER-WILLIAMS WITH 11TH OVERALL PICK IN 2013 NBA DRAFT

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Michael Carter-Williams with the 11th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. Carter-Williams was an early entry candidate for the draft following his sophomore season at Syracuse. The Sixers also acquired Kentucky big man Nerlens Noel, who is rehabbing a torn ACL he suffered last February and reportedly will not be able to play until the end of December.
