SIXERS SELECT MICHAEL CARTER-WILLIAMS WITH 11TH OVERALL PICK IN 2013 NBA DRAFT

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Michael Carter-Williams with the 11th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. Carter-Williams was an early entry candidate for the draft following his sophomore season at Syracuse. The Sixers also acquired Kentucky big man Nerlens Noel, who is rehabbing a torn ACL he suffered last February and reportedly will not be able to play until the end of December.

GIFFORD’S LANE TO OPEN FOR QUIET RIOT CONCERT

The Philadelphia Soul announce teen-rock band, Gifford’s Lane, will open up for Quiet Riot at their concert on July 6 following the Philadelphia Soul game at the Wells Fargo Center. Gifford’s Lane will also appear on the Preston and Steve Show tomorrow morning. Quiet Riot will hold a 45-minute concert following the Soul game against the Chicago Rush on Saturday, July 6 at 7 p.m. The concert will be the headlining act for the Philadelphia Soul’s Classic Rock Night.

The Philadelphia Soul and The Judge Group, a local professional services firm, will collaborate with the Armed Forces on Saturday, June 22 at the Wells Fargo Center. The night will be highlighted by The Judge Group’s Inaugural Veterans Arena Football Game. For the Soul’s Military Appreciation Night game against Iowa, the Armed Forces will take the field at the Wells Fargo Center in a match-up between teams made up of active reservists, and veterans.
