FOR SOME GIANTS, LAST FOUR GAMES ARE MORE THAN IMPORTANT

Al Thompson

While NFL teams in Green Bay, Boston, Denver, Indianapolis and Philadelphia are playing football games to determine a playoff spot or improve their seeding, players on teams like the Giants, Titans, Jets and Jacksonville are competing to keep jobs.
In some cases players are actually getting a chance to audition, if not with the team they are currently with, then for teams who might be scouting these games.
The game between the Giants and Titans (FOX 1 p.m. ET) will not be flexed for prime time.
Combined the two teams have just five wins.

JIM COOPER’S 5 STAR KICKING PROGRAM RICH IN HISTORY AND SUCCESS

Al Thompson

There are football fans out there who think kickers are just soccer players pulled off the pitch for a few hours every week to kick extra points and field goals.
Those people are wrong. Football kickers make it to the top of their position on the Grid Iron the same way quarterbacks, lineman, defensive backs, running backs, linebackers and receivers do: With passion, drive, dedication, talent a strong work ethic.
Jim Cooper is one of those kickers. The former high school, Temple kicker has transferred his experience into teaching young kickers the tools of the trade

EAGLES FRONT SEVEN BRACE FOR SEATTLE’S ‘OLD SCHOOL’ LYNCH

Al Thompson

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is a standout running back who has been consistently solid statistically since he was drafted by Buffalo in the first round in 2007.
What makes him a superstar is his backbreaking ability to get a few extra yards on almost every play. He may be one of the toughest runners to bring down in the history of the league.

LOSSES HIT DEEP WITH COUGHLIN, GIANTS PLAYERS

Michael Eisen

Tom Coughlin has coached the Giants for 11 seasons and in the NFL for 19, and when you are in the job that long, losing streaks are unavoidable. A 25-24 loss yesterday to the Jacksonville Jaguars left a Coughlin-coached team with a losing streak of at least seven games for the third time in his distinguished career. His 1995 expansion Jaguars lost seven in a row and in 2004, his first Giants team dropped eight consecutive games.

THE FOOTBALL STORIES COLLEGE FOOTBALL TOP 20 – WEEK OF NOVEMBER 30

Rock Hoffman

The top three teams get in the College Football Playoffs with wins in their respective conference championship games (which is easier said than done). If teams four through six all win, again it won’t be easy, I think, the fourth team will be Baylor. The Bears will be Big 12 champions and have the head-to-head […]

THE FOOTBALL STORIES COLLEGE FOOTBALL TOP 20 – WEEK OF NOVEMBER 23

Rock Hoffman

When determining the top four for the playoffs, conference championships are a factor. However, how much weight should they be given? This is an especially important question now that the title games are coming up. Personally, I would rank a one-loss Mississippi State team, that finished second in the SEC West, ahead of a one-loss […]

LOSS TO COWBOYS HURTS WORSE FOR BIG BLUE AS DISAPPOINTING SEASON ROLLS ON

Michael Eisen

Facing arguably their fiercest rival, a division opponent that had beaten them three games in a row, they had one of their best statistical outings of the season and they took the lead with just three minutes remaining. And still they lost, 31-28, suffering their sixth consecutive defeat.
