DeSean Jackson NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Running back FRANK GORE of the San Francisco 49ers, rookie linebacker BRIAN ORAKPO of the Washington Redskins and punt returner-wide receiver DESEAN JACKSON of the Philadelphia Eagles are the NFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the 14th week of the 2009 season (December 10, 13-14), the NFL announced today.

OFFENSE: RB FRANK GORE, SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Gore rushed for 167 yards and one touchdown in the 49ers’ 24-9 win over Arizona on Monday night.
He rushed for 104 yards on 13 carries in the first half as San Francisco built a 17-0 halftime lead.  His two-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter extended the 49ers’ lead to 24-9, putting the team ahead by two scores.
Gore’s 167 yards mark the third highest single-game total in his career and he now has 18 100-yard games, the second-most in franchise history behind Pro Football Hall of Famer JOE PERRY (20).
He has rushed for 150 yards five times in his career, the most by a 49er in franchise history.
On the season, he has scored a career-high 10 touchdowns (seven rushing, three receiving).
In his fifth season from Miami, this is Gore’s fifth career Player of the Week Award and second this year (Week 2).
Gore’s five Offensive Player of the Week Awards are the most by a 49ers running back (ROGER CRAIG, 4).

DEFENSE: LB BRIAN ORAKPO, WASHINGTON REDSKINS
Orakpo had six tackles, four sacks and a forced fumble in the Redskins’ 34-13 win at Oakland.
His four sacks tied a franchise record and he became the first NFL rookie to record four sacks in a game since CORNELIUS BENNETT in 1987.
Orakpo’s four sacks produced a loss of 44 yards.
The Washington defense held the Raiders to 227 total net yards, including just 162 net passing yards.
This season, Orakpo leads all NFL rookies with 11 sacks and is tied for fourth among all players.
His 11 sacks are the most in a single season by a Redskins rookie.
In his rookie season from Texas, this is Orakpo’s first career Player of the Week Award.
Orakpo is the seventh NFC rookie to win a Player of the Week Award this season.  This is the fourth consecutive week a rookie has been honored in the NFC.
He is the first Redskins linebacker to be named NFC Defensive Player of the Week since 1997 (KEN HARVEY, Week 13).

SPECIAL TEAMS: PR-WR DE SEAN JACKSON, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
Jackson had a 72-yard punt-return touchdown, a 60-yard touchdown reception and 261 total yards (178 receiving, 83 punt return) in the Eagles’ 45-38 win at the New York Giants.
His two 50-yard touchdowns in Week 14 give him eight such scores this season, tied with Pro Football Hall of Famer ELROY “CRAZY LEGS” HIRSCH (1951) and Chicago’s DEVIN HESTER (2007) for the most in a single season.
Jackson’s 178 receiving yards set a new career-high and marked his sixth 100-yard game since entering the NFL in 2008 (fourth this season).
He has two punt-return touchdowns this year, tied for the single-season club mark (BRIAN WESTBROOK, 2003) and his three career punt-return touchdowns set a new franchise record.
In his second season from California, this is Jackson’s third career Player of the Week Award and third this season.  He was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week on Kickoff Weekend and the NFC Offensive Player of the Week in Week 7.
Jackson is the only Eagle to win weekly awards for both offense and special teams in the same season.
He is the only player in franchise history to be named Player of the Week three times in a single season.
