HALL GETS CALL AND RESPONDS FOR BIRDS

Former Air Force standout Chad Hall recorded his first NFL TD against the Cowboys.

Eagles rookie receiver Chad Hall caught his first NFL touchdown in the first quarter to give the Birds a 7-0 lead. The four-yard pass from Kolb was the home team’s only trip to the end zone. Hall finished with six catches for 84 yards.

The former Air Force standout said even though he knew he got the opportunity because the game had no meaning; playing in any NFL game has a lot of meaning for him.

“It was great,” Hall said. “It was a great opportunity. We had already won the division and we were resting our big-time guys out there. It was fun. We got one-point shy, but our goal was to get a ‘W.’ It was a great experience for me as a player.”

Harbor also had career highs with four receptions for 32 yards

The Eagles offense set team records for most points (439) and total net yards (6,230) in a single season. It was their third straight year of breaking the team’s scoring record. Since 1970, the only other teams to break their franchise record for points in three consecutive seasons are Denver (1995-98), Miami (1970-72), San Diego (1979-81) and Seattle (1977-79) … The Eagles also scored 49 touchdowns, tying for the second-best output in team history. Their 348 completions for 4,215 gross passing yards are both the third-most in team annals.

Patterson and defensive end Daniel Te’o-Nesheim each notched their first-career sack, becoming the 13th and 14th different Eagle with at least one sack this season. Only San Diego (16), Green Bay (15) and Pittsburgh (15) had more.

Quarterback Michael Vick became just the second player in NFL history to finish a season with at least 3,000 passing yards, 500 rushing yards and a 100 quarterback rating. Steve Young also did so in 1992 when he threw for 3,465 yards and rushed for 537 with a passer rating of 107.0 … Vick finished with the second-best single-season marks in team history in terms of completion percentage (62.6), quarterback rating (100.2), interceptions (6) and interception percentage (1.6).

Punter Sav Rocca set career highs this season in punting average (43.8), net punting average (39.0), punts landed inside the 20-yard line (28) and fewest touchbacks (2) … Rocca’s ratio of punts downed inside the 20 to touchbacks (14 to 1) led all NFL punters in 2010 … Rocca also finished the season with the second-best gross punting average in team history, trailing only Joe Muha’s 47.3-yard average in 1948. His 28 punts inside the 20 tie for the third-best total in team history, behind Jeff Feagles’ 31 in 1993 and 29 in 1991. One has wonder why Rocca did not make the Pro Bowl.

Kicker extraordinaire David Akers led the NFL in scoring for the first time in his career, finishing the season with 143 points and 32 field goals, which both rank as the second-best single-season outputs in team history. Akers owns the records with 144 points and 33 field goals in 2008.
