The Giants’ quarterbacks group officially became a foursome today when the team signed Josh Freeman, a former first-round draft choice who played last season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Minnesota Vikings.
Freeman is the 15th veteran player who played elsewhere in 2013 to join the Giants since the start of free agency on March 11.

ELI MANNING UNDERGOES PROCEDURE ON LEFT ANKLE

Giants quarterback Eli Manning will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his left ankle this afternoon.
The procedure, a debridement of the ankle, will be performed by foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, N.C.
Manning suffered a high left ankle sprain in the Giants’ 2013 season finale against Washington and had been rehabbing the injury since.

Make that 13 veteran free agents signed by the Giants in three weeks.
The team today added defensive end Robert Ayers, who had a career-high 5.5 sacks last season for the AFC Champion Denver Broncos. Ayers, a former first-round draft choice, is the fourth participant from Super Bowl XLVIII, and the third from the Broncos, to join the Giants. The others are cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and return specialist Trindon Holliday from Denver and cornerback Walter Thurmond from Seattle.

The Giants are serious about creating competition on their offensive line.
Today they signed Charles Brown, the fourth offensive lineman they’ve added since the NFL free agency signing period began three weeks ago. The others were guard Geoff Schwartz (Kansas City), center J.D. Walton (Washington) and guard/tackle John Jerry (Miami). Schwartz, Jerry and Brown all started at least seven games in 2013.
