EAGLES DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR JIM SCHWARTZ PRESS CONFERENCE OCTOBER 13, 2016

admin

Q. What went on in the first half against the Lions?
JIM SCHWARTZ: It wasn’t really big plays. They just methodically moved the ball. A couple times penalties contributed to keeping those drives alive. It’s something in our first three games we really, I thought, did a good job of avoiding penalties that kept drives […]

EAGLES FINISH PRESEASON 4-0 BUT WITH SUSPENSION CLOUD HOVERING OVER TEAM

Al Thompson

Eagles Head Coach Doug Pederson is caught between a rock and a hard place with regards to tackle Lane Johnson.
The 6-foot-6, 317-pounder signed a five-year contract this offseason, that according to spotrac.com, was worth a total of $56,260,000.00 with $35,500.000.00 of it guaranteed. That was until Johnson failed a second test for PEDs just as training camp opened.
He tested positive for a banned substance but his suspension is not official until the results of a second urine sample come through. Those results have still not been announced by the NFL.

KELCE SAYS PRESEASON SUCCESS IS NICE BUT NOT A REAL BAROMETER

Al Thompson

The Eagles play the New York Jets Thursday night at the Linc (7 p.m. NBC 10). The Birds, like last year, enter this game 3-0 with a quarterback in Sam Bradford who has been lights out again in the preseason.
Eagles fans and observers are much more cautious about predictions than they were last year when many predicted Super Bowl glory. Most starters will not play.

SCHWARTZ BRINGS TOUGHNESS TO EAGLES DEFENSE

Brian Baldinger

Exactly two preseason games have been played thus far by the 2016 Philadelphia Eagles. The star of those two meaningless exhibition games has been the defense. The stat line says so…BOLDLY! 1 TD has been surrendered while they have scored 1 TD themselves. Accumulating 5 sacks 2 forced fumbles and intercepting 6 passes. All with little or no blitzing.

GIANTS GAME STORY

Michael Eisen

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Victor Cruz had a ball, even if he caught just one.

The Giants’ electrifying wide receiver and fan favorite made his long-awaited return to game action Saturday, when the Giants defeated the Jets, 21-20, in the annual MetLife Bowl. Cruz caught only one pass – a four-yarder to the right side on the first play of the second half – but that didn’t mitigate his tremendous joy at playing his first game in 22 months. It’s possible a former Pro Bowler and Super Bowl winner never felt better about such a slim statistical line.
