PATRIOTS GLAD TO SEE LIGHT

Patriots tackle Matt Light returned to Media Day II as well as practice Wednesday after missing activities and practice Monday and Tuesday.
INDIANAPOLIS – Patriots offensive tackle Matt Light missed Tuesday’s Media Day because he was dealing with the flu.
Apparently feeling better, the 6-foot-4, 305-pounder made it to Wednesday’s more intimate media affair and couldn’t hold back his sorrow in missing a chance to talk to the assembled media types.
“I’ll tell you what, I feel horrible about that (missing Tuesday), I do.” said Light, a veteran of four Super Bowls tongue firmly in cheek. “And I love spending time with you guys. Not having the opportunity to be around so many of you in such a wonderful setting was very disheartening, but I’m pulling through.”
On a much more serious note, and especially important to quarterback Tom Brady, Light practiced today. Light believes he got sick from one of his three children, not usual for a young family.
“I’m excited about practicing today,” Light said. “We have a good game plan here. We are ready to go.”
No doubt Brady is glad Light is back and part of that plan. In fact there is a report out there that Brady referred to Light as his “guardian angel.”
“I’m not sure how he categorizes me,” Light said. “but I’m pretty sure guardian angel is a far cry from that.”
In Super Bowl XLVI this Sunday, Light and the rest of the Patriots offensive line will be facing a Giants front four that is fast, relentless and playing its best football of the season at the most important time.
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick talked about the Giants defensive line and how his team prepares to play well against it.
“They (the Giants) have great quickness up there as well as power,” said Belichick. “Those guys inside really knock the line of scrimmage back. When they move (Jason) Pierre-Paul and (Justin) Tuck and those guys inside on passing situations, they have great quickness in there too. (Chris) Canty is a long guy, and he is slippery in the pass rush. They play strong in the running game. Of course, their ends are a good combination of power, speed and athleticism. We try to move our (defensive) guys around a little bit, and get them to play like the Giants play. I don’t know if anybody can play like the Giants play. They have so many talented guys up there. We do our best to simulate that. (Our guys) try to bat some balls down, even in 7-on-7 when there is no pass rush. We get some guys up there at the line of scrimmage to try to distract the quarterback, and bat some balls down, things like that, because they are at that, too.”
Light reflected if this could be his last Super Bowl appearance.
“Every game could be your last go-around,” Light said. “That’s why you embrace it all. This is an awesome week for everybody. You want to play this one like it is your last.”
